Salamanders have several laws regarding respect for social rank. One of them stipulates that a 'pearl' Salamander (Salamander of basic rank) is not allowed to meet the eyes of a 'milky way' Salamander (prince)...
Today, as Vedro is dressing Prince Pirène, his glance is drawn to a fly flying around the head of the 'Milky Way'. Vedro realises too late that behind the insect, the prince's emerald gaze is glaring back at him. The pearl Salamander immediately covers his eyes, but it's too late: he has met the eyes of a Salamander of higher rank than himself, without having been invited to ... Pirene is not known for being as lax as his two brothers; he is serious and strict and applies the laws to the letter. The Salamander at fault will receive a violent backhand from the prince and a month's banishment from the royal sphere.
